Just Another Night In Paradise

I’ve been residing in Naples for the past fifteen years, having originally migrated down from New England and the north shore of Boston. I was fed up with the constant cold, the nor’easters, the summers that never were, but oddly, I still haven’t gotten used to the holiday times, when they roll around down here.

Going to a football game at the stadium at Naples High School in the Fall just isn’t the same. Heck…I remember one time going to the Thanksgiving day game in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, not far from Hamilton where I lived, bundled up with layers of clothing to stave off the biting wind and blowing early snow. As always, it got dark just after the game ended, and I remember scurrying to the car to get it warmed up to get the heater on.

We will most likely go to the Naples High School game this Friday night, as they try to advance in the playoffs, hopefully heading for another state championship. The temperature will probably be around 75 or so at game time, with no snow in sight. A pleasant evening for sure, but somehow just not the same as those cool crisp Fall nights, heading home after a game to the warmth of a blazing fire in the fireplace.
