Quick Fix For A Better Showing

There are many small things that a seller can do, prior to listing, to help make the home more appealing, without having to spend a lot of money. These things do not take a great amount of time either.

Start with the outside, stand off the property and try to judge it from a potential buyer’s perspective. In other words, be objective and look for at your ‘curb appeal’. Things should stand immediately, but you must have the eye for them because, believe me, your buyer will.

One of the big issues in any area that gets a good amount of rain and humidity is mildew, which is always a factor here in southwest Florida. It will affect almost anything outside, things like pool patios, vinyl siding, gutters, downspouts and the like.

It is a problem that can easily be corrected with a small pressure washer. If you don’t happen to have a pressure washer, a simple large plastic spray bottle filled with straight bleach or bleach water will often do the trick. After spraying the affected areas, make sure to hose off any excessive bleach and allow it to dry. ( I know it sounds as if you are re-creating the problem, but you aren’t.) You will be amazed at how things turn out, gutters and downspouts will again be white and the green hugh will be gone for your patios and decks. Gallons of bleach or pool chlorine are a handy thing to have around the house.

Remember, sometimes it will be the little things that can make the difference between selling and not selling a home!
