I have long liked the country of Panama and currently have been working with a top developer down there regarding real estate projects that he is building. The country fascinates me from a variety of different standpoints, not the least of which Panama is fast becoming a retirement haven, especially for Americans who realistically cannot afford to retire in the United States.

HOMEOWNER'S INSURANCE...DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE?

When it comes to my homeowners insurance, I think that I’m about as confused as the next person, and to be honest, I can’t really tell you much about the coverage that I have.
I do know that I’m not doing the bare bones minimum and have flood insurance, although I wonder whether it is really worth the expense, since we are about a mile from the Gulf of Mexico. In my 15 years here in Naples, Florida and all the storms that I have been through, I have never had any of the houses that I have owned come near a flooding stage. That includes when we lived on Bougainvillea Road, some four blocks from the beach. I guess that since the premiums for flood are relatively low, about $400 to $500, it is worth having. One of the truly great things about living and working in Naples, Florida is the shear beauty that we are constantly surrounded with, coupled with such a pristine atmosphere. I’ve always said that sometimes we tend to take it for granted and forget what a special place Naples really is. As beautiful as New England can be, where I am from, it takes a trip back up north for me to realize that nothing seems to compare.
As a realtor working with higher end clients, you get to experience the utter joy of sitting, (when doing ‘Open Houses), in some pretty incredible homes and condominiums, waiting to meet that person or couple who comes in and falls in love with the property and absolutely has to have it.
