Although flood insurance is relatively inexpensive when compared to the normal homeowners insurance, many buyers ask whether a home that they are considering for purchase is in a flood zone.

I found a website out on the net that can tell you exactly that.  The site is located at www.freeflood.net and all that you have to do is input a physical address with city and zip code.  That's all there is to it and in seconds it will show you a flood risk meter displaying whether the property is low, moderate or high. (Hopefully the property will be in the X-Zone meaning that flood insurance is not needed).

Again, with flood insurance rates being relatively low, it might be prudent to get flood insurance anyway no matter where your property lies.
