NAPLES ZOO...A SPECIAL PLACE

naples_zoo_sign_400As an amateur photographer, one of the places where I love to shoot is the Naples Zoo. You just never know what you are going to get with all the wonderful plants and animals.

The Naples Zoo has a relatively short but interest history. In the 1960s, Lawrence (Jungle Larry) Tetzlaff and his wife Nancy (Safari Jane)began the intorduction of rare and exotic animals to what was then known as Caribbean Gardens. Larry Tetzlaff died in 1984 and his son, David, vowed to carry on the tradition of building a zoo started by his father.

Since its early days, the Naples Zoo has come a long way becoming a non-profit operation entity and gaining accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, a destinction that less then 10% of the zoos in the United States…

NAPLES IS CERTAINLY BEAUTIFUL BUT...

Sometimes we can get a bit jaded living in Naples full time with just how beautiful and pristine it really is. Yes it's a world-class destination and the like, but we can tend to forget that there are other parts of the world that are equally beautiful and some even have similar activities.

empress350_350Recently Marlene and I had the pleasure of attending the RealEstateWebmasters annual summit in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. Nanaimo is located mid-island and to get there, you either have to travel by ferry which takes about two hours or by seaplane which takes about 20 minutes. We chose the seaplane and the experience was a blast!

Following the two-day conference which ended on Saturday, we had another day to explore because our plane back…
