Sometimes understanding property taxes and specifically how a property is taxed can be confusing, so I wanted to see if I could refine it to its most simple terms. With taxes due at the end of the month, it might help clarify everything if I wrote a short blog about it all.
Often times people wrongly assume that property taxes are controlled by the Property Appraiser's Office, when in fact they are directly controlled by the taxing authority in the city. That authority controls the level of taxes throught what is called the millage rate.

Many times, especially around this time of year, customers and investors have a lot of tax questions about 1031 Exchanges and who better for the answers then a tax attorney.
